China Resume Format 2026: Section Order & Conventions

Section order (學歷, 工作經驗, 專業能力, 語言, 課外活動), 1–2 pages, photo optional. Chinese or English content. ATS-optimised for China and international roles.

Why Format Matters for China

CVs targeting the China job market often use Chinese section headings (e.g. 學歷 for Education, 工作經驗 for Work Experience, 專業能力 for Skills) and a formal tone. One to two pages are acceptable. Content can be in Chinese, English, or bilingual. Our China Standard Resume template follows these conventions and remains ATS-friendly for both local and international applications.

Critical China CV Conventions

Consider / Optional:

  • Photo (often expected in mainland China)
  • Age / birth date (sometimes included locally)
  • Formal, respectful tone throughout

Recommended:

  • Chinese section headings (學歷, 工作經驗, 專業能力, 語言, 課外活動)
  • 1–2 pages; concise 個人簡介 (summary)
  • Reverse chronological experience
  • Quantified achievements
  • Skills by category (e.g. 進階/基礎)

Recommended Section Order

Our China template uses this order: Contact → Personal summary (個人簡介) → Skills (專業能力) → Work Experience (工作經驗) → Education (學歷) → Courses, Internships, Certifications, Awards → Activities (課外活動) → Languages (語言) → References. You can reorder in the editor if your target employer prefers a different order.

Section-by-Section Guide

1. Header (聯絡方式)

Full name, phone, email, location (city/region). LinkedIn and personal website if relevant. No need for full street address unless the employer requires it.

2. Personal Summary (個人簡介)

A short positioning statement: 3–4 lines. Focus on years of experience, key sector, and one or two high-impact outcomes. Keep it formal and concise.

3. Work Experience (工作經驗)

Reverse chronological order. For each role: Job Title, Company – Location, Month Year – Month Year. Use achievement-focused bullets with quantified results where possible.

4. Education (學歷)

Degree, institution, location, year. Grades optional unless strong.

5. Skills (專業能力)

Group by category (e.g. Technical Skills, Tools, Languages). You can use 進階/基礎 (advanced/basic) if helpful. Avoid long lists of soft skills; focus on hard skills and technologies.

Length & Language

  • Length: 1–2 pages acceptable; keep the summary concise.
  • Language: Chinese, English, or bilingual depending on the role and company.
  • Photo: Often expected in mainland China; our template supports it but keeps layout ATS-friendly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use Chinese or English for my China CV?

It depends on the role and company. For local Chinese firms, Chinese is often expected. For MNCs or roles where English is the working language, English is usually fine. Bilingual CVs are also common. Match the job posting when possible.

How long should a China CV be?

1–2 pages are acceptable. Keep your 個人簡介 (personal summary) to 3–4 lines and focus on achievements in experience and skills.

Is a photo required on a China CV?

In mainland China a professional photo is often expected. For international or MNC roles it may be omitted. Our template works with or without a photo.
